An (early, early) early contender for a spot on “Top Ten Records of Twenty Ten”. And that’s because Teen Dream is one of the most memorable dream pop records I’ve ever heard, putting you to sleep in the best way possible. You wouldn’t call a Tempur-Pedric mattress boring, would you? Devotion (their previous 2008 full length) was good, more dreamy than pop…Teen Dream highlights the pop with singles like “Walk in the Park” that you’ll never want to stop listening to. Because it makes you feel that good. While some vocals in this style are soft, preschool choir-ish, Victoria Legrand sounds like a WOMAN. Just like your fresh-out-of-college fourth grade teacher who’d read to the class. Your face resting on your arm on your desk. You’d drift out of Native American studies to drool on your sweatshirt sleeve. And now, somewhere in your twenties, you look for escapes to those simpler days. With Teen Dream you’ve found it.
